Deck Dice! (prototype)
Ugly prototype!
Clear all 5 rounds! Each round has a different rule. Modify your dice to best take advantage of each round. Spending coins on cards can help you clear a round, if you don't spend TOO many...
Any feedback appreciated! The particular questions I'm interested in are:
- What round did you get to before quitting?
- What was your strategy, if any?
- What did you most like?
- What was frustrating?
- What did you wish you could do?
Known Issues:
- If you select multiple dice and try to play a card, the card will apply to the topmost die
- Cards currently only draw randomly and does not simulate a deck
- Hitting the "Try Again" button to restart the game is likely to be buggy; refreshing the page is suggested to reset the game
If you catch a bug, please do the following:
- Right-click inside the embed
- Click Inspect or Inspect Source
- On the window that appears, click the tab that says "Console"
- Copy-paste or screenshot the console error, and drop it in the comments here!
Thank you!

Wow, that sure is an ugly prototype! :-)
No, seriously though, very cool to prototype the game to get a sense of its gameplay first. I think it's a neat concept: on the first round I was like "uhh...so I roll dice?", but by the second I was considering the dice and the cards and thinking "this isn't trivial, is it".
I ended up six coins short on the fifth round, which isn't a bad showing, all things considered. I did feel a certain lack of control; the rule "larger divided by smaller" felt particularly hard to manage, since even with a d20 (do they go larger?) and a d6 (do they go smaller?), the expected payoff is pretty small. (4.5ish, depending on how you round, with better than a 50% chance of getting three coins or less.)
But it's intriguing! I'd love to see where it goes.
Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it! In theory there is a d4, but you have to draw the card that lets you change one of the dice to a d4, and I haven't gotten around to the game simulating a deck, so the cards you draw are completely random, unfortunately. The lack of control is something I've heard from a few folks and will definitely need to think about, even if a little RNG is intended. I plan to keep working on this, hopefully less ugly next time haha.
